<P>Begins in 1867 as the Special Committee on Workmen's Dwellings. This shortly afterwards became the Housing of the Poor Special Committee, and in 1917, the Housing Committee. In 1967 the Committee absorbed the functions of the Housing Management Committee and some functions were transferred from the Health and Social Services Committee and the Estate and Property Committee.</P>
