| Description | As the plans in this series were scanned before cataloguing, numbers were allocated using the original Science and Industry Museum reference number. Although these references have since been superseded by the Tyne and Wear Museums Modes reference, they were used as the latter reference does not appear on every plan. Also, it was impossible to allocate a unique reference number to each plan based on the Modes references as one individual plan may have several Modes numbers. For example, DS.VA/2/5269 has three different Modes references - G7414A, G7417A, G7418A - one for each of the ships mentioned on the plan.
