AdminHistory | In the early years, a variety of external photographers were used (notably Frank & Sons, South Shields, and Turners, Newcastle), while publicity was dealt with on an ad hoc basis. Several of the directors, including members of the Christie family and Norman Gilchrist, took an active interest in yard history. By the 1970s a separate marketing department existed, and the up-to-date photographic facilities at Hebburn were adopted for the entire Group. Post-privatisation, an external public relations firm, Bergmans, were also used, and the much-reduced photography department returned to the Public Relations department at Wallsend. |
