| AdminHistory | Opened as Chilton Moor Mixed School in 1873, catering for boys and girls of Junior and Senior School ages. There was also a separate department for infants opened at the same time; Chilton Moor Infants School. Due to overcrowding and extensions to the buildings, the boys and girls in the mixed school were seperated into two departments in May 1886; Chilton Moor National Boys School and Chilton Moor National Girls School. In April 1928, however, this was rectified by the Local Education Authority and the two departments amalgamated to form Chilton Moor Mixed Council School. In 1930, further restructuring under the LEA meant boys and girls older than eleven were transferred to Fence Houses Senior Mixed Council School. The infants department also mixed with this new junior school to create Chilton Moor Junior Mixed and Infants School. The School closed in August 1974 with the majority of staff and pupils transferring to Dubmire Junior and Infants Schools. |
