| AdminHistory | Barnet Goldwater was born in 1882 in Ozorkow, Poland and came to U.K. in 1885 with his mother Leah and stepfather Jona Pelz. They settled in Manchester where another son, Hyman was born in 1886. During 1892 the family moved to Cork along with Jona's brother Chona Pelz and his family. Also living here were Jona's brothers Aaron and Maurice and sister Eidel. Eventually the family moved to Gateshead and the surname Goldwater was adopted. Barnet married Leah Rosenthal in Gateshead in 1900. They had children: Moshe, Chaim, Zalman, Charles, David and Aaron. Barnet Goldwater worked as a peddler but he might also have worked in the picture framing business of his father-in-law, Isaac Rosenthal. |
