This school opened as a mixed school in 1896 and was reorganised into Girls and Boys Schools in 1928. The Girls' School became Elswick Road Secondary Modern School for Girls in 1946, the junior girls re-amalgamating with the boys. The Girls' Secondary School closed in 1965 and the pupils transferred to Pendower. The Junior Mixed School established in 1946 amalgamated with Elswick Road Infants School in 1978 to form Elswick Road Primary School, but the whole school closed in 1984. |
